Fantastic Morning to You All!!
Often times I like to Rant, you’ll have to forgive me. My Rants aren’t angry rants, they’re more frustration rants. I have such a rant today.
In our chosen field we often run across people who report consistantly having paranormal experiences. These experiences change over their lifetime but generally start in childhood. As they grow they chalk these encounters up to “just part of their lives.”
Each encounter they have has its own “Spook” factor. When it happens they find it scary but as they analyze the event they come to terms with it. What happens though when the event continually remains scary? We’ve met people who are fearful of these occurances. They have a right to be. When met with the unexplained we all find our skin crawl and hair stand on end. The feeling passes and generally we’re able to rationalize the event. It was just the wind, a tree branch on the window, the air in a vent, the creaking of the house settling.
However, when the events are consistent throughout a persons life we begin to question their psychic ability. We look at the possibilities of them being “sensitive.” This is where my rant comes in.
People are under the impression that only a chosen few are actually sensitive, or psychic. I’m not fond of the word psychic so you’ll forgive me if I refer to them as intuitive or sensitive. There is a difference but we’ll cover that in a later post.
Anyway, back to my rant. The truth of the matter is, everyone has a natural intuitive ability. EVERYONE! It is just a matter as to what extent they are intuitive. Many people have a strong intuitive ability because they’ve developed it over the years. The more you use it, the stronger it gets. It’s like the old adage, Practice Makes Perfect!
The best intuitives in the world continually challenge themselves. They exercise their intuitive ability, stretching their limits. It does take practice.
One of our favorite intuitives is Chip Coffey. He continual inspires and amazes us. Over the years we’ve watched him become stronger and more accurate. Logic would say it is because he continually uses his ability. The more you use it the more accurate it gets. Again, Practice makes Perfect!
Now, the great thing about intuitives is they can sense the spirit world. To what extent, again, depends on them. The fact that they can sense spirits is why they have so many paranormal encounters. Spirits want to be heard, seen, and acknowledged. So, they are drawn to intuitives.
I have to throw in a side note here. You have intuitives who can see and hear spirits, Sensitives who sense spirits, and Empaths who feel spirits. I use intuitive as an all encompassing umbrella for all three. The reason is, it is easier to refer to all three as intuitives then to try to explain the difference.
Now, everyone knows you can not go into an investigation and say, “Oh, you’re intuitive and that’s why you’re haunted.” You’d scare the socks off of people. Plus, it is not always true. The best evaluation for how intuitive a person is – ask them how many paranormal encounters they’ve had and at what age the first one happened. If they are intuitive the following will hold true:
1. Their first experience, they would have been a child – usually between the ages of 5 and 9.
2. The experiences would be regularly occuring. They’ll remember multiple encounters throughout their lives.
3. They’ll usually see these encounters as “just part of their lives.”
Having a questionnaire that covers these items is a must. If you are dealing with an intuitive, it changes the rules of the investigation.
You do run into cases where the intuitive came into their ability later in life. Near death experiences, traumatic illnesses, severe accidents, head trauma, etc can also factor into the equation.
So, to summerize – questionnaires are extremely important! Some clients are going to be strong intuitives but, all clients have the ability. Make sure you know the difference! When you run across a strong intuitive you will have to make a judgement call – to tell them or to not tell them. Ask yourself one very important question, “Will it be detrimental to them to tell them?” If you don’t tell them, be prepared to help them protect themselves. If you do tell them, point them in the right direction on how to protect themselves and/or develop the skill.
Follow the golden rule: Always help, never harm!
